Andrea Lucchesini

Andrea Lucchesini (* 1965 in Massa e Cozzile ) is an Italian pianist .

Life

Lucchesini was trained in Maria Tipo's school and has been internationally known since winning the Dino Ciani competition . During his concert activities he worked with conductors such as Claudio Abbado , Semjon Bytschkow , Roberto Abbado , Riccardo Chailly , Dennis Russell Davies , Charles Dutoit , Daniele Gatti , Gianluigi Gelmetti , Daniel Harding , John Neshling , Gianandrea Noseda and Giuseppe Sinopoli .

The main focus of his interest is the music of the 20th century. The concert Echoing curves of Luciano Berio part of his standard repertoire; he recorded it for BMG . Another work by Berio, a sonata , was premiered in July 2001 with Lucchesini as the pianist. He also frequently plays works by the composers of the Second Viennese School , Alban Berg and Arnold Schönberg . There are meanwhile recordings of all of Schönberg's piano works with Lucchesini.

Since 2005 he has been artistic director of the Florence Chamber Music Festival . Lucchesini was offered a position in the management of the Scuola di Musica in Fiesole .

Prizes and awards

In 1983 he became the first Italian to win the Dino Ciani competition in Milan . In 1994 he received the Premio Accademia Chigiana for his concert activities, and in 1993/94 the Premio Abbiati Critics' Prize . In August 2004, his recording of Beethoven's piano sonatas was named the best CD of the month , and in 2007 Lucchesini received the Classic Voice award for his recording of Luciano Berio's piano works .
