In 1971, 13-year-old Andreas Treske was delegated by the company sports association (BSG) Einheit Frohburg to focus on talent in the Leipzig district , the 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. From 1973 he played for 1. FC Lok in the junior league , where he was used as a defender and midfielder. In 1974 and 1976 Treske was GDR champion with the junior team . From the 1976/77 season to 1982/83 he was part of the Leipzig squad in the junior league , but was absent there between 1979 and 1981.

Shortly after leaving the junior division Treske played his first games in the GDR league with 1. FC Lok. On his debut on the 3rd matchday of the 1976/77 season he was substituted on for defender Gunter Sekora in the 3: 3 home draw against 1. FC Magdeburg in the 51st minute . In the seasons 1977/78 to 1979/80 he received no employment opportunities in the first division team. Until the 1982/83 season Treske was only a supplementary player in the league team. In three seasons he came only to a total of thirteen missions. On the 24th matchday of the 1982/83 season he scored his only league goal as a pre-stopper in the match 1. FC Lok - 1. FC Union Berlin (4-0).

It was not until the 1983/84 and 1984/85 seasons that he succeeded in making 26 league games with 18 and 26 appearances in each of the first FC Loks. Treske played his last league season in 1985/86. He was only called up in seven games in the first half of the season, then he was transferred to the third-class district league team 1. FC Lok Leipzig II. With her he was district champion at the end of the season, but the team failed in the promotion games to the GDR league. In addition to his 71 league games, Treske played for 1. FC Lok in 13 of 16 European Cup games between 1982 and 1985. His highlights included the UEFA Cup games against Werder Bremen and Sturm Graz (1983) and against AC Milan (1985).

For the 1986/87 season, Andreas Treske moved to local rivals and GDR league club BSG Chemie Leipzig . There he played eleven of the fifteen first round matches as a left defender. In the second half of the season he moved to the GDR league club Chemie Böhlen . There he stayed until 1989 and completed 54 of 95 league games played as a Libero and scored one goal. His last stop in high-class football was TSG Markkleeberg . There he continued to play in the GDR league and now back on the left side of defense. Subsequently, many teams in the GDR league were transferred to the third-class NOFV amateur league due to the turnaround .

At the beginning of 1975, at the age of 17, Andreas Treske was appointed to the squad of the GDR junior national team. In July 1975, Treske also took part in youth friendship competitions in North Korea . There, too, he was used in all four games, after which the GDR team reached fifth place among eight participants.
