Andreas Weissenbach

Andreas Weissenbach (also Weißenbach ; born September 9, 1925 in Imst ) is an Austrian painter .

Life

Andreas Weissenbach grew up in Imst and Ehrwald , completed an apprenticeship as a painter and attended Toni Kirchmayr's painting and drawing school in Innsbruck . During World War II he was drafted into military service in 1943 and fell into Yugoslavia in captivity , from which he returned only 1948th From 1949 to 1954 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Herbert Boeckl and in the graphics class of Christian Ludwig Martin and received several awards, including the Füger Prize. After completing his studies, Weissenbach returned to Imst and soon received his first public contracts for facade design. From 1967 he was a professor in the arts and crafts department of the HTL Innsbruck and taught freehand drawing, anatomy and painting. Since 1958 he has been a member of the Tyrolean artist community .

Weissenbach's work mainly includes landscape pictures , but also still lifes , views of places, self-portraits, mythological scenes and carnival pictures in a wide variety of techniques such as watercolor , oil , tempera , ink , reed pen drawing or various printing techniques . He executed the facade designs in the form of mosaics , sgraffiti , secco or fresco painting . Weissenbach is also active in the Imster Fasnacht and has carved and captured larvae .
