Angélica María Simari Birkner (born October 28, 1994 in San Carlos de Bariloche , Río Negro ) is an Argentine ski racer . She is the youngest of the Simari Birkner siblings, her brother Cristian Javier and her sisters María Belén and Macarena are also ski racers.

biography

Angélica Simari Birkner accompanied her older siblings to international competitions from an early age and grew up in Europe every six months. She spent her first day of skiing on her first birthday at Cerro Catedral . She attended school in her hometown of Bariloche, Las Leñas , Ushuaia , Italy and Canada . In addition to Spanish , she speaks fluent English and Italian as well as French and German .

Simari Birkner first competed in an FIS race at the age of 14 and made her debut in the South American Cup the following day . In the following years she started regularly in this racing series and achieved numerous placements among the top ten. Her best results so far were six fourth places. She took part in the Junior World Championships three times , with her best result, a 38th place in the giant slalom , when she first competed in Crans-Montana in 2011 . She had her first World Cup start on January 11, 2011 in the Flachau night slalom . In February 2015 she was nominated for the World Championship in Vail by the Argentine Association at short notice . She finished in giant slalom and slalom in positions 51 and 49, but did not finish in the Super-G . In her second World Cup race, the combination of Lenzerheide 2016, she finished 26th, but received no World Cup points due to the lack of time.
