María Belén Simari Birkner (born August 18, 1982 in San Carlos de Bariloche ) is an Argentine ski racer . She comes from a ski-loving family, her older brother Cristian Javier and her younger sisters Macarena and Angélica are also skiers.

biography

María Belén has been the best skier in South America for years, so she won the overall ranking of the South American Cup eight times in a row from 2000 to 2007 - mostly ahead of her sister Macarena. After finishing second behind her sister in the 2008 season, she won the overall standings four times in a row. There are also numerous discipline evaluations and Argentine championship titles, especially in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom . In the World Cup María Belén denied since 1999 more than 100 races. She reached the points only once, in 2005 as 28th in the first World Cup super combination for women in San Sicario .

At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , 2006 in Torino and 2010 in Vancouver was María Belén Simari Birkner member of the Argentine Olympic team. In a total of 13 Olympic starts, the 20th place in the 2002 combination was her best result. In addition, she has already participated in seven Alpine World Ski Championships ( 1999 in Vail / Beaver Creek , 2001 in St. Anton , 2003 in St. Moritz , 2005 in Bormio / Santa Caterina , 2007 in Åre , 2009 in Val-d'Isère and 2011 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ). She also achieved her best World Cup result in the combination - in 1999 she was 15th in the combination of Vail. In 2019 she took part in the East Timorese Alpine Ski Championships .
