Macarena María Simari Birkner (born November 22, 1984 in San Carlos de Bariloche ) is an Argentine ski racer . Her two older siblings Cristian Javier and María Belén and her younger sister Angélica are also active in skiing.
biography
Macarena is the best female ski racer in South America after her sister María Belén and was runner-up in the FIS South America Cup six times in a row from 2001 to 2006. In the 2009 season she won the overall ranking for the first time; In 2010 and 2012 she came second again. She has won the slalom and giant slalom disciplines several times, and she has also been the Argentine champion in slalom and giant slalom several times. In the World Cup Macarena Simari Birkner denied since 1999 over 70 races. She reached the points twice, in 2005 as 20th in the first World Cup super combination for women in San Sicario and in March 2016 as 25th in the combination in Lenzerheide.
At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , 2006 in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi was Macarena Simari Birkner member of the Argentine Olympic team. Her best result in a total of 13 Olympic starts is 17th place in the 2002 combination .
