Angelo d'Anna de Sommariva
Angelo d'Anna de Sommariva OSBCam (* around 1340 in the province of Lodi ; † July 21, 1428 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church .
Life
He was probably born around 1340 in the province of Lodi, the date and place of his birth are uncertain. According to his origins, he also called himself Angelo da Lodi . As a teenager he entered the Camaldolese monastery of San Michele on the island of Murano near Venice , where he took the religious name Angelo .
In the consistory of December 17, 1384 Pope Urban VI. him to the college of cardinals and in January of the following year appointed him cardinal deacon with the title deaconry Santa Lucia in Septisolio .
As a cardinal Angelo d'Anna de Sommariva took part in the conclave of 1389 , which Pope Boniface IX. chose. In August 1394 he became cardinal protodeacon and in May 1396 he was elevated to cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Pudenziana . He took part in the conclave of 1404 , which Innocent VII elected Pope. He was also a member of the Conclave 1406 , from which Gregory XII. emerged as Pope. In November 1408 he became a cardinal proto-priest .
He then turned away from the Roman papacy and joined the Pisan party, with which he elected Cardinal Pietro Philargi OFM as antipope Alexander V at the Council of Pisa in 1409 . After the death of the latter, Angelo d'Anna de Sommariva took part in the election of the Pisan antipope John XXIII in 1410 . part. On September 23, 1412 he became cardinal bishop of the suburbicarian diocese of Palestrina . After being a legate in Naples , he was one of the participants in the Council of Constance and was involved in the 1417 Conclave , which sought to end the Western schism in Constance with the election of Martin V. In February 1426 he was cardinal dean .
After his death on July 21, 1428, his body was transferred to Naples and buried there in the Church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin (also called Santa Maria di Portanova ).
