Conclave 1389
The conclave of 1389 was the electoral assembly of the cardinals after the death of Pope Urban VI. and lasted from October 25, 1389 to November 2, 1389. His choice fell on Pietro Tomacelli, who was Pope Boniface IX. called.
history
The college of cardinals had 16 members at the beginning of the conclave . Under Pope Urban VI. not only was there a schism, but his own college of cardinals was in a divided state, since he had deposed the cardinals Pietro Pileo di Prata , Galeotto Tarlati de Petramala , Bartolomeo Mezzavacca and Landolfo Maramaldo on August 7, 1387 and already in December 1386 had five other cardinals executed.
So 13 cardinals moved into the conclave taking place in Rome, which this time had no outside influence. Three cardinals remained absent.
