Angeren is a place that lies on the Rhine and the Linge and in the province of Gelderland and today belongs to the municipality of Lingewaard . This municipality is located between Arnhem and Nijmegen . The place has 2,400 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2017) and is on the N838 .
On January 1, 2001, the former municipality of Bemmel was merged with the municipalities of Huissen and Gendt to form a new municipality, which two years later was named Lingewaard .
history
Angeren is already mentioned as a settlement Angrina together with a church in a document from the year 814 or 815. In 1160 Angeren was an independent parish . In the Middle Ages, the church village grew into a place with a square, “Roode Wald” castle and a mill on the Rijndijk. The residents secured their livelihood mainly in agriculture. The farms were scattered outside the village. Since 1825, the brickworks in the foreland also created jobs.

A statue of a keutje (piggy) can be seen in the center of the village. In addition, many activities are organized in the Angerens village house. The construction of the Betuweroute tunnel under the Pannerdens Canal in Angeren has been completed. Part of the drill still stands there like an object of art. Angeren has had its own village flag since the spring festival "Lentekriebels" in 2009.
