Anita Ammersfeld
Anita Ammersfeld (born August 19, 1950 in Vienna ) is an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ), actress, producer and theater director.
Life
Anita Ammersfeld studied singing at the Royal Conservatory of Toronto in Canada and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .
She made her debut as Cherubin in Figaro's Wedding at the Vienna Volksoper , of which she was a permanent member of the ensemble. In 1979 she changed her subject from opera soubrette to lyrical soprano . This was followed by numerous guest engagements in German-speaking countries. She last appeared in April 2018 as part of the Dutch Cabaret Festival in the DeLaMar Theater as a tribute to Herman van Veen .
Ammerfeld's repertoire ranges from opera and operetta to the classics of Jewish music and chanson .
In addition to her career as a singer and actress, Ammersfeld began working as a producer in 1988. She founded the Musikforum Ammersfeld and did pioneering work, especially in the field of Jewish and Yiddish music. The main focus is on Jewish subjects and great Jewish artists of the inter and post-war period. Many works that have almost been forgotten have been brought back to life by Musikforum productions as an essential part of musical tradition and entertainment.
From 2005 to 2015 Anita Ammersfeld was the artistic director of the stadtTheater walfischgasse in Vienna. The program included political and satirical pieces with social relevance, mostly world premieres or Austrian premieres, as well as modern music theater and sophisticated Austrian cabaret.
Anita Ammersfeld is married to the entrepreneur Erwin Javor and has a son with him.

Awards
- 1995 In recognition of her numerous concerts abroad, as well as for her services and her contribution to promoting understanding of Jewish culture , the Federal President awarded her the Cross of Honor for Science and Art of the Republic of Austria .
- In 2002, City Councilor for Culture Andreas Mailath-Pokorny awarded her the Golden Merit Medal of the State of Vienna .
- In 2008 she was honored by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce for her services to the Viennese cultural and leisure industry .
- 2015 Gold Medal for Services to the State of Vienna
