Ankensen is a district of the municipality Edemissen in the district of Peine in Lower Saxony .

geography

Ankensen is located north of the district town of Peine between the two regional centers of Hanover and Braunschweig - away from the main thoroughfares on the edge of the Südheide.

history

Ankensen was first mentioned in a document in the 10th century as a fiefdom of the women's monastery in Gandersheim. From 1532 to 1885 the place belonged to the Gografschaft Edemissen in the Amt Meinersen. Then he came to the Peine district to this day. The Ankensen manor district has been part of Edemissen since 1928 .

The owner of the Abbensen manor - Heino von Heimburg - sells the patronage rights of the church in Edemissen to the Prussian Lieutenant General Adolf von Flöckher for 6,000 marks in 1887 . According to the previous patronage agreements, the patrons were entitled to a burial place within the church. According to an exchange of letters from 1898, this right had expired. Because of the privileges he had acquired, it was possible for "von Flöckher" and his relatives and descendants to be buried in a hereditary funeral no longer in Edemissen, but in Ankensen . Ten family members of the "von Flöckher" family were buried. The hereditary burial or the remains can still be found today in the triangular forest directly west of the estate.

In 1965, the independent communities of Edemissen, Alvesse, Blumenhagen, Mödesse, Voigtholz-Ahlemissen and, since 1971, Oedesse were merged to form the joint municipality of Edemissen. In the course of the territorial reform in Lower Saxony in 1974 the unified community of Edemissen was formed from the localities of the integrated community of Edemissen and eight other independent communities.

religion

The Protestant denomination established itself in the early 16th century. The village of Ankensen belongs to the parish of the Martin Luther parish of Edemissen. The owners of Ankensen had patronage for the parish for a long time until the 1970s .

Today the estate is a place for diverse, cultural events. In 2003 the gates were opened to the general public for the first time on “Monument Day”. The former bakery in the Gutspark (many thought this gem was a chapel) from 1886 was extensively restored and now serves as a branch of the registry office of the Edemissen community and can be rented for weddings. The performance of the opera “ Nabucco ” by Verdi in July 2007 can be rated as a cultural highlight - more than 2000 visitors experienced this unique major event.

Economy and Infrastructure

  • The estate is still farmed today and since it was taken over by the Edeler family, the look of the property has also been upgraded.
  • A riding stable has been in operation in Ankensen since 1976, which does not belong to the estate.
