Blumenhagen is a village in the municipality of Edemissen in the Peine district in Lower Saxony .
geography
The place Blumenhagen is north of the district town Peine between the two regional centers Hanover and Braunschweig on the edge of the Südheide.
history
“Blomenhaghen” was first mentioned in a document in 1338 on the occasion of the estate sale before the Braunschweig Council. In 1458 "Blomenhagen" went to "von Rutenberg " as an episcopal Hildesheim fiefdom and remained in the possession of various noble families for over 400 years. In 1866 the last aristocratic landowners sold "von dem Bussche" - their land to local farmers. Since 1532 the place belonged to the Gografschaft Edemissen in the Amt Meinersen and in 1885 it was incorporated into the district of Peine.
The district of Klein Blumenhagen emerged around the first half of the 19th century from two farms north of the main town on the L320 road (Edemissen – Gifhorn). At the beginning of the 20th century, four other smaller farms were built.
In 1965, the independent communities of Edemissen, Alvesse, Blumenhagen, Mödesse, Voigtholz-Ahlemissen and, since 1971, Oedesse were merged to form the joint municipality of Edemissen . In the course of the territorial reform in Lower Saxony , on March 1, 1974, the unified municipality of Edemissen was formed from the localities of the integrated municipality of Edemissen and eight other independent municipalities.

religion
The Protestant denomination was already consolidated in the early 16th century. The St. Markus Chapel in Blumenhagen - first mentioned in a document in 1534 - is the smallest and oldest chapel in the Edemissen community. It is one of a total of five chapel congregations in the parish of the Martin Luther parish of Edemissen. The altar shrine (approx. 1400) with its carved figures is a treasure. Only the middle part of the original winged altar is preserved; the two side wings are lost.
A small Catholic community emerged in the post-war period of World War II due to the influx of refugees and displaced persons. It was a matter of course for the Evangelical Lutheran congregation to share the chapel with the Catholics.
politics
The districts of Blumenhagen and Mödesse form a joint local council.
The local mayor is Imke Jeske-Werner (CDU), and Sabine Christl-Süper (CDU) has been the deputy since March 2019.
