Oelerse ( Low German Öhlße ) is a village in the municipality of Edemissen in the Peine district in Lower Saxony .

geography

The place Oelerse is north of the district town of Peine between the two regional centers Hanover and Braunschweig on the edge of the Südheide.

history

Oelerse was first mentioned in a document in 1307 as "Olerendung" and for centuries it was a border town between the Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg and the Hildesheim monastery . From 1532 to 1885 the place belonged to the office of Meinersen in the Bailiwick of Uetze. In the course of the territorial reform in Lower Saxony, on March 1, 1974, the unified municipality of Edemissen was formed from the localities of the integrated municipality of Edemissen and eight other independent municipalities. Oelerse - in the Burgdorf district since 1885 - was added to the Peine district, to the municipality of Edemissen.

religion

The Protestant denomination established itself in the early 16th century. The chapel dates from 1773 and replaced a previous building. The chapel community used to belong to the parish and the parish of Sievershausen and in 1965, when it was dissolved, it became part of the parish of Burgdorf. In 1976 it became part of the Abbensen parish and thus belongs to the Peine parish.

Striding with a red armored blue Lüneburg lion in the upper golden field of the divided coat of arms. In the lower blue half, a leafy golden ear of wheat covers two silver sickles placed next to each other in bars, one with the edge up, the other with the edge down, thus symbolizing the agricultural character of the place.

Culture and sights

  • The Neue Mühle is a watermill and was built in 1587 by the Celle dukes on the Fuhse and leased against interest. There has been no water wheel since 1906 and a turbine for electricity generation is built in. It has not been crushed since 1994, the turbine now supplies electricity for 50 households. Since the spring of 2011 the mill has been connected to the " Lower Saxony Mühlenstrasse ".
  • The chapel in Oelerse was built as a half-timbered building in the 18th century.

The village has two farm shops, several craft and agricultural businesses and a children's riding center.

education

The children from Oelerse attend kindergarten and the reliable elementary school in Abbensen. Furthermore, there are elementary school, secondary school and secondary school in the central town of Edemissen today. Secondary schools such as grammar school and vocational school have been set up in Peine.

traffic

There are bus connections to Edemissen and Peine. The motorway connections Peine, Peine-Ost and Hämelerwald-Lehrte are a connection to Braunschweig, Wolfsburg, Salzgitter and Hanover for commuters. The train stations Dollbergen (distance 3 km) and Hämelerwald (distance 5 km) are nearby for rail travelers.
