Anna Pauline Saßerath (born August 19, 1998 in Krefeld-Uerdingen ) is a German triathlete and U23 Vice World Champion (2016) and German Cross Triathlon Champion (2016).

Career

Anna Pauline Saßerath took part in her first triathlon when she was just under five. In 2013 she qualified for the German Youth and Junior Championships in Schluchsee.

Junior Vice World Champion Cross Triathlon 2014

The Uerdingen native found her way to cross triathlon in 2014 when she took part in the domestic world championship in Zittau and became junior runner-up in the world champion (0.75 km swimming, 26 km mountain bike and 6 km cross-country run).

In addition to starts in the 2nd Bundesliga North, road and MTB races, Anna Pauline Saßerath concentrates on the Xterra and cross-triathlon competitions.

German champion cross triathlon 2016

2015 and 2016 were the most successful years to date with numerous top placements, junior bronze at the World and European Championships, two German championship titles and the U23 runner-up world championship. She was also able to win the Xterra German Tour in 2016 .

In 2017 she became German cross triathlon runner-up and in the overall ranking of the Xterra-Europa-Tour she finished eleventh.

2018 was one of the most successful years so far - in addition to two national titles (sprint and cross-triathlon), she won the triple runner-up in the age group 20-24 at the world, European and German championships.

World Champion Cross Triathlon 2019

In April 2019, the 20-year-old became World Champion Cross Triathlon in the age group 20-24 in Pontevedra, Spain.

Anna Pauline Saßerath has lived in Neukirchen-Vluyn since September 2018 and in Krefeld during the week. She is trained by Benjamin Herrera. Her older brother Maximilian Saßerath (* 1993) is a professional triathlete.

Awards

  • In her hometown of Krefeld, Anna Pauline Saßerath was voted “Sportswoman of the Year” three times in a row from 2014 to 2016.
