Anne Namakau Mutelo (* in the Caprivi Strip , South West Africa , today Namibia ) is a Namibian diplomat .

Mutelo is married and has three children.

Career

Mutelo attended primary and secondary schools in neighboring Zambia . She graduated from Kalonga Secondary School in Kabwe in 1977 . She received a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Fort Hare in South Africa . She also has a degree in contemporary diplomacy from the University of Malta and the DiploFoundation and a Certificate in Multilateral Diplomacy from the Geneva University Institute for International Studies from 2003.

In 1991 Mutelo was second secretary of the Namibian High Commission in London , from 1995 to 1999 deputy ambassador to the Namibian High Commission in Botswana , 1999 to 2000 first secretary at the Namibian embassy in South Africa and from 2007 to 2009 in the same function at the Namibian embassy in Ethiopia and the Permanent Mission of Namibia to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). From 2007 to 2009, Mutelo was responsible for Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa as deputy director in the “Bilateral Relations” department in the Foreign Ministry . From 2010 to 2012 she was an advisor at the Permanent Mission of Namibia to the United Nations in New York .

As a member of the “ United Nations ” department, Mutelo worked as a Namibian delegate at the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in 1992, 2001 and 2004. She also worked at the SADC / EU Presidium of the Berlin Initiative of SADC-EU cooperation. As part of the Namibian delegation, she took part in the SADC / EU conferences in Madrid (1995) and Vienna (1998). Mutelo was also a member of the delegation at the summits of the African Union in Addis Ababa from 2012 to 2015. In February 2015, she was deputy head of the African delegation at the joint AU and EU mission in Mali . There are also further participation in various conferences.

Until 2016, Mutelo was Namibia's Ambassador to Ethiopia and Sudan and Permanent Representative of Namibia to the AU and the Economic Commission for Africa. This also included representing Namibia in the Peace and Security Council of the African Union and representing Namibia and South Africa in the Executive Council Contact Group at the International Criminal Court , which met with the United Nations Security Council to intervene in relation to the President and Vice-Presidents of Kenya to promote.

On July 18, 2016, Mutelo received her accreditation as Namibian High Commissioner in Malaysia , on January 10, 2017 as Namibian Ambassador to the Philippines and on June 21, 2018, also her accreditation as Namibian Ambassador to East Timor . She is also responsible for Indonesia , Thailand , Brunei , Papua New Guinea , Fiji and the Pacific Islands Forum .
