Anne with at E is a Canadian drama series based on the novel Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery based from the year 1908th It was developed by Moira Walley-Beckett . Amybeth McNulty can be seen in the lead role .

The first season was broadcast from March 19 to April 30, 2017 in the original English by CBC under the name Anne . On 12 May 2017, the published video-on-demand -Anbieter Netflix the first season under the title Anne with at e . In August 2017, the production of a ten-part second season was announced. The second season was released on July 6, 2018. The third season was released on Netflix on January 3, 2020.

Through a misunderstanding, Anne Shirley, a lively 13-year-old orphan, ended up with siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert in 1896, who had actually expected a boy to help them with the farm work.

Anne spent most of her childhood, which was really not easy, in various orphanages. Nevertheless, she was able to maintain her positive attitude towards life and so she manages to change the lives of Matthew and Marilla positively through her intellect and especially her imagination, but also in the small town in which she now lives to ensure that some things change for the better.

criticism

Zeit Online was of the opinion that "a children's book classic in the shadow of huge series throws does not have it easy". It should Anne with at E "a surprising gem among the series starts in 2017 - especially for adults". This is mainly thanks to Moira Walley-Beckett, who ensures that “the series about the orphan who ends up on a farm at the end of the 19th century does not drift into tearful kitsch”. Leading actress Amybeth McNulty was certified to play the role "brilliant".
