Annelise Heigl-Evers

Annelise Heigl-Evers (born April 19, 1921 in Einbeck ; † January 1, 2002 in Göttingen ) was a German doctor and psychoanalyst . It significantly influenced the introduction and development of group psychotherapy in Germany.

Life

After graduating from high school in Göttingen, she first studied German language and literature and art history between 1938 and 1944, then medicine at the universities of Jena, Tübingen, Gießen and Göttingen. She completed her studies with the medical state examination and the doctorate to Dr. med. from. In her medical practice she soon turned to psychotherapy and psychosomatics, and especially to psychoanalysis . For many years she worked at the Lower Saxony State Hospital in Tiefenbrunn . In 1971 she qualified as a professor at the University of Göttingen in psychotherapy and from 1974 to 1977 headed a research center for group processes at the University of Göttingen.

In 1977 she was appointed professor to the chair for psychotherapy and psychosomatics at the University of Düsseldorf . There she was also the medical director of the Clinic for Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics. In 1986 she retired , but continued to run the clinic until 1989.

From 1980 to 2000 she was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lindau Psychotherapy Weeks , and from 2001 to 2002 an honorary board of the Lindau Psychotherapy Weeks.

Services

Together with her husband Franz Heigl , with whom she had been married since 1959, she developed the Göttingen model of analytical group psychotherapy. In addition, she initiated and led numerous further training measures and organized meetings of various associations and organizations. In 1981 she founded the “Further Education Institute for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy eV” in Düsseldorf. She is the author of numerous books and textbooks on psychotherapy and was co-editor of the magazine "Gruppenpsychotherapie und Gruppeendynamik".

With her husband she developed the psychoanalytical-interactional method for structurally disturbed patients, primarily with borderline syndrome . In this context, Tiefenbrunn developed into the first German specialist clinic for patients with psychotrauma disorders .

Together with her husband, she founded the Heigl Foundation in 1992 and donated the Heigl Prize for empirical or conceptual work in the field of psychotherapy research . This prize is endowed with 10,000 euros and has been awarded annually since 2004.

Annelise Heigl-Evers received the Federal Cross of Merit in 1992 .
