Antônio de Assis Ribeiro

Antônio de Assis Ribeiro SDB (born July 26, 1966 in Ourém , Pará , Brazil ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Belém do Pará .

Life

Antônio de Assis Ribeiro joined the religious order of the Salesians of Don Bosco , made his first profession on January 10, 1987 and then studied until 1991 in Manaus and at the Catholic University of Brasília . For further training he went to Rome to the Pontifical University of the Salesians . He received on 17 June 1995, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After the ordination he was first chaplain in Manaus and responsible for the aspirants for entry into the order. From 1997 to 1999 he studied again in Rome and obtained a degree in moral theology at the Pontifical Alfonsian Academy . After his return he was active in various areas of pastoral care and his order. From 200 to 2005 he was also Professor of Moral Theology at the Regional Institute for Priestly Education in Belém do Pará . Since 2013 he has been Vice Provincial and responsible for youth and vocational pastoral care in the Salesian Province of São Domingos Sávio , based in Manaus.

On 28 June 2017 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Babra and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará. The Archbishop of Belém do Pará, Alberto Taveira Corrêa , donated him episcopal consecration on September 2nd of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Humaitá , Franz Josef Meinrad Merkel CSSp , and the Bishop of Santarém , Flávio Giovenale SDB .
