Antef I , also Anjotef I or Intef I , was an ancient Egyptian king ( Pharaoh ) of the 11th Dynasty ( Middle Kingdom ), who lived from about 2133 to 2121 BC. Ruled in Upper Egypt .

origin

This ruler was possibly a son of Mentuhotep I and brother of Antef II.

Domination

Initially only the Theban prince, Antef extended his domain to several neighboring districts and later assumed the title of king, albeit without the throne name . The northern limit of his territory was probably Dendera , the sixth Upper Egyptian Gau .

His grave

In 1966 Dieter Arnold and Jürgen Settgast excavated the grave of Antef ( Jnj-jtj.f ) TT386 on behalf of the German Archaeological Institute in Cairo .

This is the large grave known as Saff el-Dawaba .

In the museum in Cairo there is a grave stele of a guest prince and overseer of the priests named Antef, which dates back to around 2115 BC. Dated. It comes from Dra Abu el-Naga and is often assigned to the 9th dynasty , because this antef was still tributary to the kings of Herakleopolis .
