Jürgen Settgast
Jürgen Settgast (born March 21, 1932 in Wismar ; † January 31, 2004 in Berlin ) was a German Egyptologist .
Settgast attended the large city school in Wismar . He studied Egyptology at the universities of Bonn and Heidelberg , where he received his doctorate on October 21, 1960 under Eberhard Otto . Afterwards he was a consultant at the Cairo department of the German Archaeological Institute . From October 1, 1968 until his early retirement due to illness on June 30, 1988, he was director of the Egyptian Museum in West Berlin . Settgast was married to the Egyptologist Biri Fay .
