government
Antef II ruled for almost 50 years. Almost constantly he was fighting with the kings of Lower Egypt. At the beginning of his reign he was ruler of the Upper Egyptian Gaue 1 to 6 and the city of Abydos . Twice he had to conquer Thinis until the capital of the 8th Upper Egyptian Gau finally belonged to his sphere of influence. He succeeded in extending his domain to Qaw el-Kebir , about 100 km north of Abydos.
buildings
An octagonal column found in the Karnak temple in Luxor with the name Antef Wah-anch and the god Amun-Re suggests that Antef II has already built a temple here. It is the earliest structural evidence in Karnak .
dig
He put his saff grave (row grave) in at tariff . It is the large grave known as Saff el-Kisasija .
Two steles from his grave in at-Tarif / Korna come from Antef II. Wah- ankh . It is interesting that the papyrus Abbot II. 8, which was an inspection of the graves under Ramses IX. (late 20th Dynasty ) mentions the dog Behek on one of the steles. It was probably so buried that the remaining four dogs were not recognized.
