Anton Christ

Joseph Anton Christ (born October 16, 1800 in Oberkirch ; † July 7, 1880 in Neuenheim near Heidelberg ) was a Baden lawyer and politician . He was a member of the Baden state parliament and the Frankfurt National Assembly .

Life

The son of an innkeeper studied from 1822 at the University of Heidelberg Law and graduated in 1833 with a doctorate. He was a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg . After completing his studies, he entered the Baden state service as a legal intern in Heidelberg . In 1837 he moved to Karlsruhe , where he became court director in 1846. Also from 1837 to 1841 and again from 1846 to 1849, Christ was a member of the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly .

In the course of the March Revolution , Anton Christ took part in the pre-parliament . From May 18, 1848 until the end of the rump parliament on June 18, 1849 he was a member of the 8th Baden constituency ( Emmendingen ) in the Frankfurt National Assembly . There he belonged to the left parliamentary group Deutscher Hof . On June 3, 1849, he was also elected to the Baden Constituent Assembly of 1849 , an office he never held.

Due to his participation in the Baden Revolution , after the suppression of the March Revolution in 1849, he was relieved of his office as court court director and retired. Christ then worked as a publicist in Frankfurt am Main . In 1853 he was appointed to the board of directors of Darmstädter Bank , in 1859 he retired and moved to Neuenheim.

His sons were Karl (1841-1927) and Gustav Christ (1845-1918).
