Anton Diffring

Anton Diffring (born October 20, 1916 in Koblenz , † May 19, 1989 in Châteauneuf-Grasse , France ) was a German actor in theater, film and television.

Life

Diffring studied acting in Vienna and Berlin until he emigrated to Canada in 1939, before the outbreak of war , where he was interned. He had his first theater appearances in Canada in 1949; a move to Hollywood brought no professional success. When he went to Great Britain in 1951, he quickly found employment in war films ; He was one of the German actors who were also successful in international productions, where he was mostly seen in important supporting roles, often as a Wehrmacht officer or a threatening figure.

Diffring has appeared in series on television, such as Le Mutant (France, 1978) and Flambards (Great Britain, 1979). He also took on guest roles in Der Kommissar , Graf Yoster is honored , Derrick and Der Alte . Diffring died of cancer in 1989 and was buried in St. Andrew Churchyard in White Colne, Essex, England.

Diffring was the brother of the artist Jacqueline Diffring . He died of cancer 5 months before his 73rd birthday
