Anton Gäumann

Anton Gäumann (born October 8, 1960 in Steffisburg ) is a Swiss manager . Since 2016 he is Director (CEO) of the Migros Aare .

Gäumann completed an apprenticeship as a retail clerk from 1978 to 1981 . and from 1984 to 1985 the higher specialist examination in retail trade , which he completed in 1985 with training as a master teacher. From 1990 to 1991 Gäumann completed further training as a marketing planner during his career , in 1994 further training in general management at the University of Basel and from 1996 to 1997 as marketing manager.

Career and business leader

At the beginning of his career, Gäumann was Product Manager in various areas at what was then Migros Bern from 1986 to 1992 . In 1992 he became Head of Marketing Services, Supermarket, with the focus on establishing and realigning the central marketing department in the Supermarket department and the launch of Migros' first online grocery store under migros-shop.ch (now LeShop ).

From 1998 to 2001, Gäumann was the overall project manager for the integration of the Aargau / Solothurn and Bern cooperatives into Migros Aare. Part of the project was, among other things, the construction and expansion of the new logistics platform in Schönbühl with an annual turnover of over CHF 2 billion at the time. After the integration was completed, he was appointed head of the specialist store department at Migros Aare in 2001 and was appointed a member of the management team. From 2010 to 2016 he took over the management of the shopping center & real estate department within the management. Since 2015 he has also been acting as deputy manager.

Gäumann was on June 22, 2016. Director of the Migros Aare, the most actively traded of the ten cooperatives by the management of the cooperative, with effect from 1 September 2016 Migros chosen. He succeeded Beat Zahnd, who was appointed to the general management of Migros. Since 2019, Migros Aare has been increasing investments in the digital area, which are associated with job cuts, in various pilot projects under the leadership of Gäumann.

CEO Neue Brünnen AG

From 2005 to 2014 Gäumann was CEO of Neue Brünnen AG and thus overall project manager for the construction of the Westside leisure and shopping center in the Bern-Brünnen district . This opened on October 8, 2008. In addition to the shopping mall, the property includes a multiplex cinema , restaurants, a hotel with a conference center, a senior citizens' residence , an adventure pool with spa and fitness center , a gas station and an outdoor children's playground. The project was created under the direction of the architect Daniel Libeskind . With the Westside project, Gäumann was responsible for Migros Aare's largest investment project since 1990 with a direct investment volume of CHF 500 million and infrastructure projects of a further CHF 300 million. After the opening he was responsible for the positioning of Westside in the national shopping center landscape.

Gäumann is president and vice-president of the board of directors of several Migros Aare subsidiaries , such as Bootcamper AG, Culinart Gastro AG, Shopping Center Brünnen AG and VOI AG.
