Antonella Carta (born March 1, 1967 in Nuoro , Sardinia ) is a former Italian national soccer player . The midfielder played for the Italian national women's team from 1984 to 1999 and scored 28 goals.

Brenzan's first international match was on April 8, 1984 in Rome in the first leg of the European Championship semi-final against Sweden , which was lost 3-2. In the second leg 20 days later, she was not used. In August she took part with Italy in the Mundialito in Jesolo and Caorle , but she was only substituted in in the first group game in a 2-1 draw against Germany . Your team won the tournament by beating Germany 3-1 in the final. In the subsequent "Torneo delle Dolomiti" she was used in both games against Czechoslovakia and Hungary . In the subsequent "Xi'an Women's Tournament 1984", which Italy finished third, it was not used in the games against national teams. In the next 28 games she was missing only once and during this time she took on the 1985 Mundialito, in which Italy lost in the final to England , and the 1986 Mundialito, in which she scored the 1-0 winner with her first international goal in the final against the USA scored, and the European Championship finals in 1987 , in which Italy took third place. At the Mundialito 1988 it was not used, in which Italy came second.

She was also there at the European Championship finals in 1989 , but then in the semi-finals against Germany she was the first of four Italians to miss on penalties . Since the subsequent game for third place against Sweden was lost, Italy only finished fourth. It didn't go any better two years later. Again they met Germany in the semi-finals of the European Championship finals and this time they lost 3-0 in regular time. And the game for 3rd place was lost again - this time against Denmark . After all, Italy had qualified for the first official women's World Cup by participating in the finals , but Carta was not nominated.

In 1992 she was used in seven out of eight games, but in 1993 only in three of nine and also not in the European Championship finals in 1993 in her home country , where she was only a substitute. In the following years it was mostly used, in the quarter-finals of the European Championship in 1995 , in which Italy lost two games to Norway, but only in the second leg. Since Denmark was the better quarter-final loser, the Italians had missed both the 1995 World Cup and the first Olympic football tournament at the Atlanta Olympics . In March 1995 the Italians took part in the second edition of the Algarve Cup , but after two defeats and one win they could only play for 7th place against hosts Portugal and won 4-1, to which they contributed with one goal. After that, Italy did not participate again until 2004, when she had already ended her career.

Carta also took part in the 1997 European Championship , in which the Italians only lost the final against defending champions Germany. In the group game against the Germans, she equalized 1-1 with her first European Championship goal.

According to her personal statistics at the Italian federation, she made her 100th international match on May 5, 1998 in qualifying for the 1999 World Cup in the Italians' first game against Finland .

At the 1999 World Cup , she was also part of the squad and was used in the first two group matches against Germany and Brazil . Since the Italians were eliminated after the preliminary round, they also missed the soccer tournament at the Olympic Games in Sydney . According to her personal statistics at the Italian association, the group game against Brazil was her 110th and last international match. In the FIFA 100 list of January 7, 2011, it is named with 119 games between 1984 and 1999.
