Antonio Fabián Silio
Antonio Fabián Silio ( Antonio Fabián Silio Alaguire ; born May 9, 1966 in Nogoyá , Entre Ríos ) is a former Argentine long-distance runner who belonged to the world class in the 1990s.
In 1991 he won the only medal for Argentina's track and field athletes at the Pan American Games in the 5000 meter run , when he reached the finish line in 13: 45.15 minutes behind the two Mexicans Arturo Barrios and Ignacio Fragoso . In 1992, Silio qualified for the final at the Olympic Games in Barcelona over 10,000 meters and took 18th place. The following year he finished eighth in 28: 36.88 minutes at the World Championships in Stuttgart . In 1998 he won the 10,000 meter run at the Ibero-American Championships.
Silio has been active in road running since the beginning of his career . In 1992 he won silver at the World Half Marathon Championships as part of the Great North Run in 1:00:40 h (route not suitable for a record). In 1995 he set the current national marathon record when he won the Hamburg marathon with the course record of 2:09:57 h. In 1996 he started the marathon of the Olympic Games in Atlanta , but did not reach the goal. In 1998 he was sixth in the half marathon world championships on the Greifensee run with another national record of 1:00:45 h . In 2001 he ended his career.
Silio is 1.72 m tall and weighed 57 kg at competition times.
