The Rimbach , together with its longer upper course Appenbach, is an over 8 km long brook of the Steigerwald in the Central Franconian district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim , which flows into the Haslach west of Burghaslach after a total of about east and sweeping to the left .

geography

Source rivers

Appenbach

The Appenbach rises between the Fünf Morgen ( 431  m above sea level ) and the Prühler Berg ( 434  m above sea level ) at an altitude of 427  m above sea level. NHN . The source is about 1 km northwest of Appenfelden , a district of Oberscheinfeld in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district . At just over 5 km, the Appenbach is longer than both the other Iberlauf Haselbach, the Rimbach and the Rimbach itself, but with less water than the Haselbach coming from the west-southwest.

Haselbach

The Haselbach has a fan of smaller spring arms. The longest rises between the Vorderer Schloßberg ( 420  m above sea level ) and the Mittelberg ( 440  m above sea level ) at an altitude of 400  m above sea level. NHN in the forest area of Oberscheinfeld. The stream is just over 4 km long and still has a longer inflow in the forest from Seitenbuch at the level of the right watershed and shortly afterwards a short one from the left from the Schlossbrünnlein (monument protection D-5-75-116-43). On its further course, which is then in an open valley basin , it passes Rosenbirkach , which is a little to the right of the Haslach and in the basin of another right inlet. Both places belong, like most of the Haselbach catchment area, to the market town of Burghaslach.

course

The brook arises west of the town of Oberrimbach from the confluence of the Appenbach coming from the west-northwest and the Haselbach coming from the west-southwest at an altitude of 318  m above sea level. NHN . The resulting Rimbach now flows in an easterly direction through the town of Oberrimbach .

Then it touches the northern part of the village of Kirchrimbach . The Rimbach is reinforced by water-bearing ditches that arise at the foot of the Burghöchstädter Berg ( 411  m above sea level ) and the Rimbachsberg ( 388  m above sea level ). Then it passes the Kirchrimbach sewage treatment plant and now runs in an easterly direction through Rimbachstal , where it is surrounded by many agricultural areas. The stream continues to flow in an easterly direction and passes the village of Unterrimbach , then continues down the valley towards Burghaslach .

On the way there, it flows past the sewage treatment plant and motocross track from Unterrimbach, and then about 1 km west of Burghaslach through the confluence with the Freihaslacher Bach coming from the left to create the Haslach , which then continues in the direction of the inflow of the Rimbach.

Its approximately 3.5 km long run ends 18 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of 5.1 ‰.

Catchment area

The Rimbach catchment area covers 22.56 km² and is located entirely in the Steigerwald . It drains over the Haslach , the Reiche Ebrach , the Regnitz , the Main and the Rhine to the North Sea and borders:

  • in the north to that of the Freihaslacher Bach, the other Haslach upper course;
  • in the south to that of the Aisch tributary Kleine Weisach ;
  • in the west-south-west briefly to that of the banknotes , a higher Aisch tributary over the Ehebach .

Flora and fauna

Compared to other streams of the same length, the Rimbach is more watery and flows rather slowly due to its low gradient. The local fishing association uses them as fishing waters and stocks them with various types of fish , including brown trout , eels and white fish .
