Arandon is a town and commune Déléguée in the French community Arandon-Passins with 638 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The inhabitants are called Arandonnais .

geography

Arandon is located about 47 kilometers east of Lyon on the Rhône . Neighboring towns are Creys-Mépieu in the north, Saint-Victor-de-Morestel in the east, Passins in the south and Courtenay in the west.

The former route nationale 75 (today's D1075) runs through the area .

history

During the Second World War there was a German internment camp for Jews and non-French prisoners.

With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of Arandon and Passins were merged to form Commune nouvelle Arandon-Passins. The municipality of Arandon was part of the La Tour-du-Pin arrondissement and the canton of Morestel .
