Armando Enrique Cooper Whitaker (born November 26, 1987 in Colón ) is a Panamanian football player . The midfielder and Panamanian international is under contract with CD Árabe Unido .

Career

societies

Cooper played for the CD Árabe Unido in his youth and joined the professional squad in 2006. In the 2009/10 season he won the championship with the club . In 2011, Cooper switched to CD Godoy Cruz in the Argentine Primera División . On August 18, 2011, he made his debut in the 3-0 defeat against Racing Club de Avellaneda . He scored his first goal on his second appearance on September 22, 2011 to make it 1-1 in the 84th minute in the home game against Unión de Santa Fe . In the 2013/14 season he played on loan at Oțelul Galați in the Romanian League 1 .

For the second half of the 2014/15 season , Cooper moved to the German second division club FC St. Pauli and signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2016. He made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga on February 21, 2015 at the 1: 2 Loss against TSV 1860 Munich and became the first Panamanian player in German professional football . After Cooper returned to Hamburg with his national team several days late after the Gold Cup and had not responded to messages from the club during his absence, he was released from training at the beginning of August 2015.

In September 2015, Cooper rejoined his former club CD Árabe Unido. In mid-August 2016, he was loaned to Toronto FC until the end of the year and then firmly committed. In January 2018, Cooper moved to CF Universidad de Chile . From the end of August 2018 he was under contract with Dinamo Bucharest for half a year . From January to August 2019 he played for Maccabi Petach Tikwa . Then he returned to the CD Árabe Unido again.

National team

In the summer of 2007 , Cooper took part with the Panamanian U20 national team at the U20 World Cup in Canada and was eliminated with her in the preliminary round.

On January 20, 2010, Cooper made his senior national team debut in the 2-1 defeat in the friendly against Chile . He scored his first goal on January 16, 2011 in a 2-0 win against Nicaragua with the goal to make it 1-0. In July 2015 , Cooper played with the national team in the Gold Cup in the United States and Canada . He was also appointed to the squad in his home country for the Copa América Centenario 2016 in the United States . In October 2017, Cooper qualified with Panama for the first time for the 2018 World Cup in Russia , for which he was appointed to the Panamanian squad in early June 2018 . On June 9, 2018, Cooper completed his 100th international match in the 1-0 defeat in the friendly against Norway . At the 2018 World Cup, he played the full playing time in the first two group matches against Belgium ( 0: 3 ) and England ( 1: 6 ) and missed the third game against Tunisia ( 1: 2 ) due to a yellow card suspension . His team took the last place in the table and was eliminated after the group stage.
