Armutlu is the capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Yalova . It is located at the northern end of the Bay of Gemlik (Gemlik Körfezi) and is divided into three districts ( Mahalle ). According to the city seal, Armutlu received the status of a Belediye (municipality) in 1950 .
The district Armutlu is located on the western tip of the province on the peninsula Bozburun in the east of the Marmara Sea . The cape forms the western end of the Samanlı Dağları. 25 km west of Armutlu is the prison island İmralı , which belongs to the province of Bursa . Armutlu County was formed in June 1995 from the Bucak of Gemlik County (then Bursa Province ). In the last census before the change of area (1990) the Bucak had 78,193 inhabitants, of which 3,201 inhabitants were in the administrative seat ( Bucak Merkezi ) Armutlu.
At the end of 2018, the district included the district town as well as five villages ( Köy ) with an average of 542 residents. The range of population numbers ranged from 1464 ( Fistikli ) down to 76 ( Selimiye ).
