Arne Åhman

Arne Per Åhman (born February 4, 1925 in Nordingrå ) is a former Swedish athlete . With a height of 1.76 m, his competition weight was 64 kg.

Arne Åhman was at the European Championships in 1946 with 14.96 meters third in the triple jump . He was 21 centimeters behind the winner Valdemar Rautio from Finland.

At the Olympic Games in 1948 he could not qualify for the final in the high jump with 1.84 meters . In the first attempt in the triple jump, he jumped a new Swedish record of 15.40 meters, the jump was enough for a gold medal. The American George Avery could not quite reach Åhman's distance of 15.365 meters and won silver.

At the European Championships in 1950 Arne Åhman finished fifth in the triple jump with 14.48 meters and 5 centimeters behind on bronze. In the high jump he was second with 1.93 meters behind the British Alan Paterson .

At his second Olympic Games in 1952 , Åhman only appeared in the triple jump. After jumping 14.72 meters in qualification, he was only fifteenth in the final with a disappointing 14.05 meters.
