An oak trunk was found near Arnsdorf, which is the oldest evidence of woodworking in the Senftenberg region. The last recognizable annual ring is from the year 1163. The year 1183 (+/- ten years) is assumed to be the felling date. This trunk is located in the district museum in Senftenberg . Arnsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1490. In 1622 Adolf von Gersdorf sold the community and the Arnsdorf estate district together with other surrounding goods .

Around 1800 the license was transferred from the Zechhaus am Schwarzwasser to the Murnack property on the village square. Arnsdorf has been part of the newly created Ruhland district since 1880. In 1974 Arnsdorf was incorporated into the city of Ruhland at its own request.
