Arthon-en-Retz ( Breton : Arzhon-Raez ; Gallo : Arton ) is a village and a commune déléguée in the French commune of Chaumes-en-Retz with 4,170 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Loire-Atlantique department in the region Pays de la Loire . The inhabitants are called Arthonnais .
Since January 1, 2016, it has merged with the former municipality of Chéméré and is part of the Commune nouvelle Chaumes-en-Retz. It belonged to the arrondissement of Saint-Nazaire and the canton of Pornic .
geography
Arthon-en-Retz is located about 39 kilometers west of Nantes near the Atlantic Ocean on the Canal de la Haute Perche in the Pays de Retz landscape . The former route nationale 751 (D751) runs through the municipality .
