Arturo Mandin Bastes

Arturo Mandin Bastes SVD (born April 1, 1944 in Loboc ) is a Filipino religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Sorsogon .

Life

Arturo Mandin Bastes joined the religious order of the Steyler Missionaries and Pope Paul VI. ordained him a priest on November 28, 1970 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Romblon on July 3, 1997 . The Archbishop of Cebu , Ricardo Jamin Cardinal Vidal , donated him episcopal ordination on August 21 of the same year . Co- consecrators were Miguel C. Cinches SVD, Bishop of Surigao , and Leopoldo Sumaylo Tumulak , Bishop of Tagbilaran .

On July 25, 2002, he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Sorsogon. When Jesus Varela retired on April 16, 2003, he succeeded him as Bishop of Sorsogon.

On October 15, 2019, Pope Francis accepted Arturo Mandin Bastes' resignation due to reasons of age.
