Arun banner
The Arun banner ( Chinese 阿荣旗 , Pinyin Āróng Qí ; Mongolian ᠠᠷᠤᠨ ᠬᠣᠰᠢᠭᠤ Arun qosiɣu ) is a banner located in the administrative area of the prefecture-level city of Hulun Buir of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region ofthe People's Republic of China . It has an area of 12,063 km² and has 331,762 inhabitants (end of 2009). In addition to forestry (over 5600 km² of forest) and grazing cattle (around 2000 km² of grassland), there is also over 3100 km² of arable land in the Arun banner, where mainly soy , maize , potatoes and sunflowers are grown. Rich deposits of copper , iron ore , lead , zinc , oil shale , marble , fluorite and quartz are exploited in numerous mines.
