life and career

Ashlee Hewitt was born on December 17, 1987, as one of ten children into an extended family. She started singing when she was around three or four years old and was involved in starting her first band when she was 13. During this time she also began to learn guitar and toured the American Midwest during her high school years . Since she received home schooling, it was easier for her to tour and stay away from school, as she could catch up with them whenever she returned home. At the age of 18 she moved to Nashville , Tennessee , where she made her first recordings at the age of 14. In Music City , as the city is known as the center of commercial country music , she tried her hand at music for several years before applying for the Nashville Star talent show. In the sixth and final season of the show, which has been produced since 2003 and aired in its final year by NBC (before that by USA Network ), she made it into the main show and dropped out after seven episodes in fifth place. With the transition from USA Network to NBC there were also some changes in the program; the auditions were also broadcast on television for the first time. In addition to various other changes, the age limit for participation (from 18 to 16 years) has also been relaxed. At the age of 20, Hewitt was one of the younger participants in the main show at the time of production.

After leaving the show, Hewitt continued to work as a singer-songwriter. On June 20, 2009, Hewitt announced via Myspace that she would play the lead and title role of Elle Daniels in the low-budget production Elle: Sing für Ihr Traum . In the film, which premiered on April 24, 2010 at the Newport Beach Film Festival and was released on DVD in the United States on April 26, 2011 , she played the female lead alongside Sterling Knight , who had taken on the male lead . During the film she also performed a few songs for her own good; including Happily Ever After , Possible , Love Is with Me Now and Fairy Tale . In the German-language dubbed version of the film, Anne Helm lent her the voice. Her acting career didn't last very long, however. In 2013, a year after the birth of her son and her marriage to Jessie Keith Whitley , she had another appearance as Tanya in Scott R. Thompson's (1961-2019) film After Life , before she largely withdrew from the acting business. For some time she worked as a background singer for Lorrie Morgan , but also worked closely with her friend Katie Armiger for several years .

In 2016 she founded the band Post Monroe together with Whitney Duncan and Shelby McLeod , with whom she released music from then on. The debut EP was called Post Monroe ; the single on it was called Red Hot American Summer and was written by the three band members in collaboration with Blair Daly . With the departure of Shelby McLeod in the fall of 2017, the trio Post Monroe became a duo, but they continued to bring out music on an ongoing basis. In May 2016 the band was selected by Rolling Stone as one of the 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know: May 2016 . In the course of its existence, the band has already appeared several times on the Grand Ole Opry , the longest-running radio show in US broadcast history that has existed since 1925. At the beginning of 2017, the band toured with country singer Martina McBride , as her opening act. McLeod left the band after the two songs White Noise and Psycho were released via streaming services in September 2017. Country Music Television (CMT) selected the band in 2016 as one of the Next Women of Country .

The band released numerous music videos for their songs; the last release (as of June 2020) took place on November 28, 2018 with the song No More .
