Asperjoc is a village and a former French commune of 404 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Ardèche in the Region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Antraigues-sur-Volane and Asperjoc were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Vallées-d'Antraigues-Asperjoc and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Antraigues-sur-Volane.
geography
The Commune déléguée is made up of many scattered places and is surrounded by the green, wooded mountain ranges of the Cevennes . It is part of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park . Asperjoc is located in the valley of the Bézorgues and Volane rivers and is bounded by a mountainous massif from the surrounding municipalities of Vals-les-Bains and Ucel . The next largest city is Aubenas , eight kilometers to the southeast.
history
The place was first mentioned in the 12th century.
In the 13th century the community was administered by two owners, before the village belonged to the Antraigues family from the 17th century.
In the second half of the 19th century, factories for processing wool were built step by step, so that at times the place had up to eleven spinning mills.

Culture and sights
The church from the 19th century, as well as the chapels of Autagnet and Pont-de-Bridou are well worth seeing.
The Cascade de la Chaise du Diable (Cascade of the Devil's Chair) and various iron-containing water sources represent special excursion destinations in nature .
Economy and Infrastructure
Part of the population works in agriculture.
In 1946 a mineral water containing magnesium called La Reine des Basaltes was discovered and mined by Marius Veyrenc. It is said to stimulate digestion.
