Bishop Atanáz Orosz

Atanáz Orosz (born May 11, 1960 in Nyíregyháza , Hungary ) is the Hungarian Greek Catholic Bishop of Miskolc .

Life

Atanáz Orosz received on 4 August 1985, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On March 5, 2011 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the titular bishop of Panium and ordered him to Hungarian Greek Catholic Exarch of Miskolc. The secretary of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches , Archbishop Cyril Vasiľ SJ , ordained him as a bishop on May 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of the Prešov Archeparchy , Ján Babjak SJ, and the Bishop of Hajdúdorog , Fülöp Kocsis .

On March 20, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him first bishop of the Apostolic Exarchate Miskolc, which was elevated to an eparchy . In addition, Orosz was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the newly established Nyíregyháza Eparchy . On October 31, 2015, he was replaced by Ábel Szocska OSBM as Apostolic Administrator of the Nyíregyháza Eparchy.
