location

The former Red Monastery Abbey
The former Herzoginnental Abbey

Auderghem / Oudergem is located in the south-east of Brussels and borders the Brussels municipalities of Watermael-Boitsfort / Watermaal-Bosvoorde , Ixelles / Elsene , Etterbeek and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre / Sint-Pieters-Woluwe as well as the Flemish suburbs of Tervuren and Overijse . The municipality has a share in the large Brussels city forest, the Forêt de Soignes / Zoniënwoud . At the edge of the forest is the former Red Monastery Abbey , another former abbey is the Herzoginnental in the park of the same name. The latter is used by the Belgian government for meetings or receptions. In the 1950s, the Treaties of Rome were largely drawn up in Val-Duchesse (the French name).

Auderghem / Oudergem is one of the wealthier municipalities in Brussels due to its attractive location near the forest and the already preferred Brussels East.

traffic

The subway line 5 ends here, five train stations are in the municipality ( Hankar, Delta, Beaulieu, Demey and Herrmann-Debroux ). Auderghem / Oudergem is also the starting point for the A4 motorway towards Namur . The tram line 94 crosses the municipality, as do various bus routes.
