Auenhausen is a district of the city of Brakel in the district of Höxter , administrative district of Detmold in North Rhine-Westphalia. About 118 inhabitants live in Auenhausen, which has an area of ​​around 3.79 km².

Auenhausen lies on a ridge between the Eggegebirge and the Weser , over 300 m asl. From Auenhausen you have a view in the north to the Köterberg and in the south to the Desenberg . The place has a field of 350 ha.

history

Auenhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1147. In the 12th and 13th centuries, the Gehrden monastery owned Auenhausen and the other Heggedörfern. Kaiser Wilhelm II camped in the Auenhausen district during a maneuver in 1907. A memorial stone reminds of his stay.

On January 1, 1975 Auenhausen was incorporated into the city of Brakel.

A phased array radar system of type GM 406F is installed in Auenhausen for air defense. The detached Technical Train 242 (AbgTZg 242) of the Air Force operates the radar system and is subordinate to Operations Control Area 2 . Two radomes and a command bunker were in operation during the Cold War . The actual barracks were in Borgentreich .
