content

The self-confident, career-oriented young physician Dr. After completing his training in Los Angeles, David Heller is returning to Berlin to take on a position as a plastic surgeon in a luxury clinic. As soon as he got back on German soil, however, his plans were suddenly thwarted: After hearing the general practitioner Dr. Harry Hansen saves his life on the street, he asks him to temporarily step in for him in his practice. David feels compelled to comply with Hansen's request and takes up his alternative service at short notice - much to the chagrin of Hansen's niece Nina, who, after passing her medical exam, is supposed to take over her uncle's practice and, unlike her colleague, does not find the treatment of statutory health insurance patients a nuisance. Only when Hansen decides after his illness to cut back for the foreseeable future, and David also has to find out that his future employer is bankrupt, does he decide without further ado to extend his guest appearance in Hansen's practice indefinitely.

reception

criticism

The industry service Quotenmeter.de wrote in his review of the pilot episode, that "he who on the basis of content Description believes that to thorough a 08/15-doctor drama with two different possible characters at the center is that not wrong." The online portal called the script as "opaque and somehow illogical" and compared the production to a large extent with an ordinary Sat.1 romantic comedy movie. Although the result of the pilot edition could not be satisfactory and the series hardly stood out from the “doctor-romantic uniformity”, the production “mainly because of the really strong main actors and because of the initially only touched episode-spanning stories of the main characters” had time for development to wish.

success

It was put through its paces from September 17 to October 15, 2012 in five prime-time episodes on Sat.1 . The broadcast took place at 9:15 p.m., following on from the series It comes even thicker , although the production achieved below-average ratings from the start: On average, the five episodes broadcast were seen by 1.44 million viewers aged three and over. 0.81 million of them were between 14 and 49 years of age, relevant for advertising. The corresponding market shares were 4.8 and 6.7 percent, respectively. The episode “Quarantine”, which was also produced in advance, was not broadcast after short-term program changes, after the broadcaster had decided to put it through its paces after only five episodes, one episode earlier than originally planned. The episode was finally published online and the series with the early sixth episode "Devil's Kitchen" completed together with the season finale of It comes even thicker . Quotemeter.de described the series in a retrospective quota check as a "stillbirth", which had already started "badly".
