action

As a mother, housewife and jewelry saleswoman, Ariane is constantly under stress. She also has to take care of the construction site in her home, because the craftsman responsible can no longer be seen. Her husband Hugo, who owns a company that lends construction machinery, comes home late, as always, and reproaches Ariane for the construction site still being a construction site. Ariane is fed up with Hugo believing that she has nothing to do all day and that he is the only one who works hard. She suggests that he swap roles for a year. When she threatens to leave him otherwise, Hugo is forced to agree. The judicial officer Maurice is supposed to keep a record of her experiment and, after initial hesitation, feels called to morally support the couple in their role reversal. Ariane's mother Lise, on the other hand, doesn't think so and the two children Louise and Hector are also irritated.

From now on, Ariane goes to Hugo's office every day and holds meetings while Hugo takes care of the children and the household. Both quickly feel overwhelmed with each other's daily tasks. When Ariane is embarrassed because of her ignorance of the company's strategy, Maurice gives her tips on how to best deal with such situations. In turn, he trains Hugo in multitasking and teaches him how to sell jewelry. Gradually Ariane and Hugo get along. Ariane puts her employee Flanvart in their place when he is suspected of being a company spy. Meanwhile, Hugo sells a whole set of jewelry and knows how to attract other customers with charm and sophistication. Ariane's friend Charlotte, who also works as a jewelry salesman, is delighted with Hugo's unexpected success. She gives him a spontaneous kiss, after which they drive to a hotel to sleep together. When they are in bed, however, they realize that they don't want sex at all. Instead, they fool around and take funny photos of themselves.

When the competition comes up, Ariane comes up with an idea of how she can lead the company back to the top of the market. The construction machines should be borrowed together with a worker if the customer cannot operate the machines himself. Particularly good-looking workers should also be available for female customers. The proposal is well received and strengthens Ariane's self-confidence. In the intoxication of her newfound power she seduces Flanvart in the office. Meanwhile, Maurice meets with Ariane's mother Lise, who tells him to stop the experiment mainly because of her grandchildren. Maurice evades, however, and compliments her. Hugo and Ariane are now fully absorbed in their new roles. They are also doing great in the bedroom.

However, her son Hector suffers from the fact that his parents are no longer normal parents. When he messes up the classroom with graffiti, Ariane and Hugo are summoned to school. Ariane realizes that she and the children are becoming increasingly alienated. When Hugo spends a day on the beach with Louise and Hector, Ariane leaves everything in the office to drive to them. She happily hugs her children on the beach and tells Hugo that she no longer wants to change roles for fear of losing touch with her children. Hugo does not want to give up the role of the caring father and househusband, however. Ariane then instructs the craftsman Gonçalvo to sabotage the local construction work and to make Hugo look incapable. A colleague, Adolphe Nicart, should also persuade Hugo to go back to work in the company. Hugo finally learns from Nicart that Ariane cheated on him with Flanvart. Ariane then has to stay with her mother. However, Hugo wants to make up with her again. When Ariane returns to the joint house, which has meanwhile been completely repaired, she finds the photos of Hugo and Charlotte. Convinced that Hugo cheated on her with Charlotte, Ariane leaves the house. Shortly afterwards, Hugo, as the owner of the rental company, is to be held responsible. A customer was raped by one of his construction workers. When Ariane realizes how much she needs Hugo, but is not allowed to see him at the police station, she gets into a police car and announces over the loudspeaker of the car how much she loves and misses him. The customer who tried to sue him for the rape hears Ariane's words and subsequently admits to having invented the rape. Hugo and Ariane then happily embrace each other. Maurice and Lise have meanwhile decided to get married.

Reviews

For the lexicon of international film , the film was a "[k] conventional comedy whose gender character is well entertaining thanks to a coherent staging and brilliant actors". Cinema came to the conclusion that "because of the bumpy staging and the unrestrained grimacing of the leading actors [...] unfortunately the horrified offspring had to be right" that the parents should rather get a divorce. As a “role-swapping comedy”, the film gets lost “in clumsy situational comedy and slapstick”. Prisma said that with the main actors Dany Boon and Sophie Marceau "one could have done more, even had to". The result is "unfortunately just another, meaningless role-swap comedy without a whistle".
