The three-cushion European championship in 1953 was the tenth tournament in this discipline of the carom and took place from 28 to 31 May 1953 in Madrid, Spain.
history
For the second time after 1948 , the Spanish capital hosted this European championship. For the third time in a row, the title went to Belgian René Vingerhoedt . Again he secured all tournament records and remained without a game loss. As in the previous year, August Tiedtke from Germany came in second. This constellation was to exist a total of six more times by 1960. Tiedtke never managed to beat Vingerhoedt.
The tournament average was over 0.700 for the first time at an EM. Three players with an individual average (BED) of over 1,000 were a small side record of this EM.
mode
The game was “everyone against everyone” to 50 points with an equal number of shots .
