The three-cushion European championship in 1976 was the 34th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from March 2 to 7, 1976 in Valencia . It was the fourth three-cushion European Championship in Spain after three times in Madrid.

history

Once again with all tournament records, Raymond Ceulemans, as expected, won the three-league title at this European Championship. His friend from Deurne (North Brabant) Ludo Dielis came in second, even if he could not show his best performance . The Austrian Johann Scherz missed his ninth place in a silver medal at a European Championship by losing to the Italian Antonio Oddo. As in the two previous years, the German participant Dieter Müller took ninth place. He still played a very strong tournament. With 0.964 he set a new German record over eleven games. In doing so, he improved the old record set by August Tiedtke at the 1958 three-cushion World Cup in Barcelona . For the first time, all participants at an EM played at least one game with over 1 average. Overall, it was the best European championship to date with a tournament average of 0.948 .

mode

The game was played in the system “everyone against everyone” to 60 points with additional push / equal intake .
