The three-cushion European championship 2000 was the 57th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from May 2nd to 5th, 2000 in Madrid . It was the fourth three-cushion European Championship in the Spanish capital.

history

The Spaniard Daniel Sánchez used the home advantage and became the first three-cushion European champion in the new millennium. The tournament began for him with a hard-fought 3-2 set win against the Portuguese Manuel Fradinho. In the final against the Turkish defending champion Semih Saygıner he was only able to prevail in the fifth set with 15: 9 in 10 shots and thus won the European Championship for the second time after 1997. The best German participant, Martin Horn , came in good fifth. As in the previous year, he was eliminated from the defending champion. In the quarterfinals he was defeated by just 2: 3 sets. For Christian Rudolph and Andreas Efler , the round of 16 was already the end of the tournament.

mode

The tournament was played with 32 participants. The entire tournament was played on three sets of 15 points each. Third place was no longer played out. There was a bronze medal for each of the losers in the semi-finals.
