The three-cushion European championship 2011 was the 68th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from June 16 to 19, 2011 in Porto , Saarland. It was the sixth three-cushion European Championship in Portugal.
history
The 68th European three-cushion championship ended like 67. In the final, the Dutch defending champion Dick Jaspers and the Belgian Eddy Merckx met again. Last year Jaspers won just 3: 2 sets. This year the final was a one-sided affair. In the end it was 3-0 after sets for Jaspers, who played the best game of the tournament in the semi-finals against Belgian Frédéric Caudron . The seven-time German champions Martin Horn once again played a strong group stage. After a 3-1 in the round of 16 against the Dutchman Raimond Burgman , the end came in the quarter-finals after a mixed performance against the later runner-up Eddy Merckx. The Greek ex-world champion Filipos Kasidokostas also delivered a good performance . He lost in the round of 16 against the Belgian fighter Eddy Merckx after 2-0 set lead with 2: 3 and in the end played the best general average (GD) of all participants.
mode
The tournament was played with 32 participants. In the group games, two sets of 15 points were used to win. From the round of 16 onwards there were three sets of wins per game. Third place was no longer played out.
