The three-cushion European championship in 1964 was the 22nd tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from January 22nd to 26th, 1964 in Copenhagen . It was the first three-cushion European championship in Scandinavia.

history

Again it was Raymond Ceulemans who dominated the tournament in Copenhagen. The first three places were identical to the last European Championship in Brussels. With generally slightly weaker average performances, he was the only player in the world-class format. In the game against the German Ernst Rudolph , Ceulemans managed to improve the series European record set by Dutchman Herman Popeijus in 1955 from 15 to 17 points. Ernst Rudolph started the tournament sensationally. After five games, he and Ceulemans were at the top of the table with 5 wins each. He only needed a draw in his remaining three games to secure a medal spot. Unfortunately he lost significantly to Raymond Ceulemans and Johann Scherz . It was very close against the Dutchman Henny de Ruijter . Rudolph lost in a tough game with 58:60 in 89 shots and was "only" fourth.

mode

The game was played in the system “everyone against everyone” to 60 points with additional push / equal intake .
