The new European champion was the Greek Filipos Kasidokostas , who beat his Dutch opponent Raimond Burgman with 40:26 in 25 shots. For the young Greek, it was his second international title, after the three-cushion World Cup and three World Cups as well as a European Championship title among the juniors. Joint thirds were the German national player and multiple world and European champion Martin Horn and the Turk Murat Naci Çoklu . Horn was able to beat defending champion Dick Jaspers from Holland in the quarter-finals , before the Essen-based man then lost in the semifinals to the later silver medalist Burgman, in 28 shots, with 37:40.
