The three-cushion European championship in 1956 was the 13th tournament in this discipline of carom and took place from June 28 to July 1, 1956 in Saarbrücken .

history

For the second time in the history of the European Championship, the tournament took place in Germany. The Belgian René Vingerhoedt won for the sixth time in a row. Apart from his "slip" the year before, he remained, as usual, lossless. In addition to the best general average, he also played the top series (HS) of 11. For the third time, after 1952 and 1953, August Tiedtke from Düsseldorf was runner-up. The best individual average (BED) went to the Belgian Pierre Fauconnier with 1.086. That was well below Vingerhoedt's record of 1.515 in 1954. Ernst Rudolph , the father of Christian Rudolph (1996 three-cushion world champion), was the second German participant to compete for the first time .

mode

The game was “everyone against everyone” to 50 points with an equal number of shots .
