The three-cushion European championship in 1983 was the 41st tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from January 27 to 30, 1983 in Dunkirk . It was the sixth three-cushion European Championship in France.

history

Raymond Ceulemans once again won the three-cushion European Championship with all tournament records. It was his 21st title in 22 years. Once he was unable to attend for health reasons. This won his compatriot Arnold de Paepe in 1973. The 15-player system was only played that year. It was the last European championship that was played up to 60 points. The young Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl , who only finished last last year, was sensationally second. The German champion Günter Siebert played a very good preliminary round and made it to the final round undefeated. In the final round he could not win a game and finished sixth.

mode

The game was played in the preliminary round in the system "everyone against everyone" to 60 points with additional push / equal intake . The first two of the group qualified for the final round, with the game taken. The group third played for place 7. The group fourth played for place 10. The group fifth played for place 13.
